Dear fellow community members of Hong Kongers in Sutton,
On behalf of Citizens UK, I want to express my deepest condolences following the devastating fire in Tai Po and feel deeply for the people of Hong Kong. Our hearts are with the families who have lost loved ones, with those who have been injured, and with everyone whose lives have been shaken by this tragedy.
Today, we stand in solidarity with our Hong Konger neighbours here in the UK, many of whom are deeply affected by the news from home. We know that when disaster strikes thousands of miles away, the pain is carried across borders. It lives in the hearts of families, friends, and communities who are trying to understand and endure what has happened.
May you find support in the people around you, and may this community hold you through this difficult time. We also recognise the courage of responders and all who are working tirelessly to support survivors. Their dedication reminds us that even in moments of deep sorrow, compassion can rise and bring light into the darkest situations.
Let us continue to stand together — to listen, to support, and to walk alongside all who are suffering. In times like these, unity and kindness matter more than ever.
Thank you.
Kes Gill Martin
